Christmas Present Crochet-Along 2015 Project #2 Supply List

After completing the cowl pattern for our first Christmas Present Crochet-Along (that starts July 6th Yippee!), I thought it would be great to have a matching hat! As I am doing with the cowl, I will give you 2 sets of instructions with one using the bulky yarn and the other for using worsted weight! Oh….You didn’t see the Supply List for Project #1? As July 6th gets closer, I get more and more excited about the Crochet-Along and hope you are too! There is so much chatter going on in the group with people already buying their yarn or talking about using different name brands of yarn, etc. You don’t have to join the group to take part in the CAL, but I think you’ll have more fun and maybe even keep the motivation and dedication to actually get those Christmas Present done! Here’s what you’ll need for the 2nd project that starts on August 3rd. This project will last 2 weeks. You can join anytime during those 2 weeks to complete your hat!

Using Bulky Yarn (You can use any bulky #5 yarn you have in your stash!) This supply list is for project #2 ONLY!
1. Red Heart Boutique Infinity yarn, 3.5 oz/100 grams, 129 yards, #5 Bulky Yarn, Fiber Content: 69%Acrylic, 11% Wool, 10% Polyester,6%Nylon,4%Metallic, I used 170-190 yards. (2 skeins)
2. Hook – K/6.5 mm
3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends.

Using Worsted Weight Yarn (You can use any worsted weight #4 yarn you have in your stash!)
1. Red Heart Soft, 5oz/141 grams, 256 yards, #4 Worsted Weight Yarn, 100% Acrylic, I used 200-220 yards (1 skein)
2. Hook – I/5.5 mm
3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends.

Christmas Present Crochet-Along Project #1 Supplies

When I announced the Christmas Present Crochet-Along (that starts July 6th, 2015), many of you wanted to know if I would release a supply list early. I want to give everyone plenty of time to get the suggested yarn (if that’s you preference) or whatever materials you decide to use!

Our first CAL project will be a cowl. I told you before that I used the yarn that Red Heart sent to me (Go Red Heart!) which I thought would be perfect for our first event!
So….Here’s what you’ll need:

Red Heart Infinity Yarn, 3.5 oz/100 grams, 129 yards, #5 Bulky Yarn, Fiber Content: 69%Acrylic, 11% Wool, 10% Polyester,6%Nylon,4%Metallic – I used 1 skein for this project.
Hook – N/10.0
Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends.

But….if you are trying to use what is in your stash, no worries. This cowl will be really easy to change-up your hook size, type of yarn, etc. I will actually give you suggestions on how to change it up! Depending on the size of your cowl/scarf, you’ll probably use anywhere from 200-400 yards of yarn should you choose worsted weight yarn!

Christmas Present Crochet – Along Introduction!

Are you always up until midnight on Christmas Eve crocheting that last-minute present? Last year I saw a lot of people in the crochet groups struggling to get finished. I thought it would be fun if we started a Christmas Present Crochet – Along in July and it would run through probably the end of November or Early December! Let this year be the year that you won’t have to jump through hoops or stress out over not finishing!

We’ll be crocheting hats, scarves, cowls, wash cloths, spa set, etc. I hope to get in as many projects as we can so that you will have a variety to choose from and get all your Christmas done early this year! I’m working on setting up the schedule now but already have a few projects ready to go! Remember the yarn that Red Heart sent me a few weeks ago? I designed two brand new cowl patterns with each one. So….you can either get the same yarn or something equivalent! One of them will probably be the first project on the list.

One of the features of the CAL will be that you can add your projects to the blog post once you’re finished! No links required . All you need is a photo. Don’t you always love seeing everyone’s projects once they’ve completed them? Me too, so I want them all in one central location as we go along. I think it will give all of us inspiration and motivation to make the most of this CAL!

Another feature is that my good friend Elena from Beatrice Ryan Designs has agreed to join me for one of the CAL projects! I love her work and it will be fun to have her host a project!

Our first project will start on July 6th so be on the lookout! I will give enough time for each project but also take into consideration the size of the project. I don’t want to stay on say a wash cloth project for 3 weeks ya know? I want to use the time we have wisely. One of the ways to keep the lines of communication open for us so that we can chat about the CAL is that I will be creating separate events in my ELK Studio Crocheters Facebook group. You don’t have to join to be successful with the CAL, it’s just another way for us to keep each other motivated throughout the upcoming months! You will find the information in the events tab within the group.

What happens if you can’t keep up? No worries. The patterns will always stay on the blog so you can join or leave a project at YOUR convenience! Just have fun!
