Sunset Scarf – A Fun Crochet Scarf Pattern!

I splurged…..I couldn’t help it.  I know you know exactly what I’m talking about don’t you?  Sometimes you just see a beautiful yarn and you gotta have it…  I bought the  Crystal Palace Mochi Plus Yarn from Craftsy and really loved it!  I bought three skeins of it and when it arrived, I knew it would make a beautiful scarf?  What do you think?

Supplies:
1. Crystal Palace Mochi Plus Yarn, Weight #4 Worsted Weight, Yardage: 50g/95yds, I used 3 full skeins. Color #629, Cherries Jubilee.
2. Hook: H/5.0
3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends.

Gauge: Is not important for this project.

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet

Special Stitch – Cluster V-Stitch (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc)

Chain in multiples of 4 plus 3

For my project I chained 24 plus 3

NOTE:  I only had 27 stitches  for my beginning chain but once you complete one row of the pattern, you will actually have 35 stitches.  Don’t let that throw you off.  It’s because between the cluster stitches, I used 3 chains to open up the scarf and allow for a better drape.

Ch 27

Row 1:  cluster v-st (see special stitch above) in 7th ch from hook (6 ch count as first dc and first skip 3 ch), skip next 3 ch, *cluster v-stitch, skip next 3 ch*, ending with dc in last ch, turn (35 st)

Row 2:  ch 3 (counts as first dc), cluster v-st in next ch 3 space  and each ch 3 space across ending with dc in top of 3rd ch, turn

Row 3 -100 :  Repeat Row 2 until you’ve reached your desired length.  Fasten off and weave in the ends.

If you want an infinity scarf like pictured above, just whip stitch your ends together and fasten off.

Remember my Yarn Discovery #3?  I used Lion Brand Thick and Quick yarn for the projects, and I’ve gotten enough feedback requesting the modified version of my Country Appeal Infinity Scarf!  I hope you enjoy!

Supplies:
1  Lion Brand Heartland Thick and Quick Yarn, 142 grams/125 yards, #6 Super Bulky Yarn, I used approximately 175 yds with the scarf \
2.  Hook – N/10.0
3.  Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends.

#1 Key Ingredient – as long as your chain length is divisible by 4, you are good to go.  For example, if you want to change the length of the pattern use numbers like 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, or 180.

Gauge:  I’m not sure gauge is really that important since the scarf is so easily adaptable.

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
fptr – front post treble crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
tr – treble crochet

Note:
Ch 3 is considered first dc throughout the pattern.
Ch 4 is considered first tr throughout the pattern.

Ch 80

Join the first ch, ensuring that your chain is not twisted, sl st to first sc.

Round 1: Ch 1 and hdc in first ch and each ch around, join with sl st to first sc.

Round 2:  ch 3, dc in next st and each st around, join with sl st in top of 3rd ch.

Round 3:  ch 4, tr in next 2 st, fptr around post next st, *tr in next 3 st, fptr around post of next st*, repeat from *to*, join with sl st in top of 4th ch.

Round 4: ch 4, tr in next 2 st, fptr around post of next st, *tr in next 3 st, fptr around post of next tr*, repeat from *to*, join with sl st in top of 4th ch.

Round 5:  Repeat Round 4

Round 6:  ch 3, dc in next st and each st around, join with sl st to first dc

Round 7:  ch 1 and hdc in first st and each st around, join with sl st to first hdc.

Finish off and weave in the ends.

Simple Sweetness Crochet Beanie!

It’s getting crunch time and we are all looking for the quick hat project! Simple sweetness is just the pattern to get you through some last minute “emergency” gifts! It’s simple enough for a beginner but the advanced crocheter can whip through quickly too!  The self-striping of the yarn also gives that added touch to the project don’t you think?  Add a flower and you’ll be all set!

1. Bernat Sheep(ish) Stripes by Vickie Howell #4 Medium 2.4 oz/70 grams 137 yards. I used approximately 171 yards, so you’ll need to buy 2 skeins.
2. Hook – I/5.5
3. Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

Difficulty: Easy/Beginner

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Gauge – 14 dc st and 7 rows = 4″

Round 5: ch 2 and dc in first st, dc in next 2 st, work 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 3 st, work 2 dc in next st*, repeat from *to*, join by sl st in first dc (60 st) (6.5″ flat circle) Skip to Round 7 if you desire this size. Fits 20″-21″

Round 6: ch 2 and dc in first st, dc in next 3 st, work 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 4 st, work 2 dc in next st*, repeat from *to*, join by sl st in first dc (72 st) (7.25″) Fits 22″

Round 7: ch 2 and dc in first st, dc in next st and around, join by sl st to first dc.(72 st)

Round 8: ch 1 and sc in first st, sc in next st and around, join by sl st to first sc. (72 st)

Round 9: (ch1, 1sc, 1dc) in first st, skip next st, *(1sc, 1dc) in next st, skip next st*, repeat from *to*, join by sl st to first sc. (72 st)
