After several requests, I’ve created a tutorial for the special stitch in the Creek Bend Beanie pattern. Once you see the tutorial, I think you’ll love the stitch and see how much fun it is to make the hat.
Frozen Pond Tutorial
I really love the “double-layered” textured stitches that I’ve been using lately and the Frozen Pond Beanie is one of those patterns. I hope once you see the video, it will help bring things together for you and allow you to complete your project.
Here are the written instructions for the special stitch:
Special Stitch:
Special Double Crochet Cluster (sdcc): Yo, Insert hook into indicated st, YO, pull through 2 loops (2 loops of hook), YO, insert hook in front loop in round below, YO, pull through two loops (3 loops on hook), YO, insert hook in next st, YO, pull through 2 loops (4 loops on hook), YO, insert hook in front loop in round below, YO, pull through 2 loops (5 loops on hook), YO, pull through last 5 remaining loops on the hook.

- Premier Candy Shop, #4 Worsted Weight, 100% Acrylic, 260 yards, Colorway: Licorice (2 Balls)
- J Hook/6.0 mm
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.
Notes:
- If you want your project larger or smaller, make sure you start with an even number of stitches.
- In the instructions, I will tell you to ch 3. You can use the alternative stitch if you like. Click HERE for the video tutorial.
- Ch 3 counts as the first dc in the row.
- Ch 1 does not count as the first sc in the row.
Abbreviations:
flo – front loop only
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
rem – remaining
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
yo – yarn over
Gauge: Is not important for this project.
Finished Measurement: 74″ x 7 1/2″
