The Vintage Bloom Scarf!

Wow! The Vintage Bloom uses the wonderful Sweet Roll Yarn, and I can promise you’ll love the drape and quickness of this project.  It’s incredibly versatile, so you’ll be able to figure out easily if you want your project wider than what’s given in the pattern or maybe even shorter or longer!

You’ll need 2 skeins of the Sweet Roll Yarn which can be found at your local Jo-Ann Craft and Fabric Store.  There are just so many amazing colors….that it’s hard to choose from isn’t it?  I love the Blueberry and Blackberry myself!

Supply List:

  • Sweet Roll Yarn, #4 Worsted Weight Yarn, 140 grams/245 yards, 100% Acrylic, Colorway:  Mint Swirl (2 Rolls)
  • J Hook/6.0 mm
  • Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
st – stitch

Gauge:  12 dc sts and 6 rows = 4″ (Gauge for this project is not important)

Finished Measurements: 94″ x 6 1/2″

Notes:

  • Ch 3 is considered the first double crochet in the pattern.
  • Ch 4 is considered the first double crochet and ch st in the pattern.
  • Multiples of 5 plus 2

Row 1:  Ch 27, dc in 4th ch from the hook, dc in next 3 ch, *skip next 2 ch, (dc, ch 5, dc) in next ch, skip next 2 ch, dc in next 5 ch, repeat from *, turn.  (15 dc, 2 [ch,ch5,dc])

Row 2:  Ch 3 (See Pattern Notes), dc in next 4 sts, *ch 2, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 2, dc in next 5 sts, repeat from * ending with last st in top of ch 3, turn.  (15 dc, 4 ch-2 sps, 2 sc)

Row 3:  Ch 3, skip next st, (dc, ch 5, dc) in next st, *skip next 2 sts, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next st, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp,  skip next 2 sts, (dc, ch 5, dc) in next st** until last 2 sts, skip next st, dc in top of ch 3, turn. (12 dc, 3 (dc,ch5,dc)

Row 4:  Ch 4 (See Pattern Notes), *sc in next ch-5 sp**, ch 2, dc in next 5 sts, ch 2, repeat from *, ending last repeat at **, ch 1, dc in top of ch 3, turn. (6 ch-2 sps, 12 dc, 3 sc)

Row 5:  Ch 3, dc in next (ch-1 sp, sc) 2 dc in next ch-2 sp), *skip next 2 sts, (dc, ch 5, dc) in next st, skip next 2 sts, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next st**, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, repeat from * ending last repeat at **, dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in top of ch 3, turn. (15 dc, 2 [ch,ch5,dc])

Repeat Rows 2-5 until you have reached your desired length ending last repeat on Row 2.  Fasten Off.  Weave in the ends.  You can whip stitch the ends together if you would like an infinity scarf.

It was an honor to do a book review for Edie Eckman’s latest book “Every Which Way Crochet Borders”.  Want to know a couple of the best parts (well it’s really hard to choose one part) but….there’s a giveaway included plus you received an exclusive review of pattern #17 in the book so be sure to scroll all the way down!

Base rnd, each side: Multiple of 3 + 1 + corners.

Begin in corner st.

Rnd 1: Beginning dc3tog over first 3 sts, *[ch 3, dc3tog over next 3 sts] to corner, placing last dc in corner st**, ch 5, dc3tog over same corner st and next 2 sts; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, ch 4, join with sc to top of first cluster.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc2tog over next st and space, *[ch 3, dc3tog over next (space, st, space)] to corner, placing last dc in corner space, ch 3, 3-dc cluster in same corner space, ch 3**, dc3tog over (same space, next st, next space); rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with slip st to first cluster.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, (2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc) in each ch-3 space around, join with slip st to first sc. Fasten off.

Stitches & Notes

3-dc Cluster (3 double crochet cluster): Yarnover, insert hook into st or space indicated and pull up a loop, yarnover and pull through 2 loops, (yarnover, insert hook into same st or space and pull up a loop, yarnover and pull through 2 loops) two times, yarnover and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Beginning dc3tog (beginning double crochet 3 together): With slip knot on hook, yarnover, insert hook into first st or space and pull up a loop, yarnover and pull through 2 loops, (yarnover, insert hook into next st or space indicated and pull up a loop, yarnover and pull through 2 loops) two times, yarnover and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Southern Diamonds Poncho CAL Supply List!

Get your hooks and yarn ready for a little ELKie fun with the Southern Diamonds Poncho Crochet-Along!  I’m so excited to bring you another fun and easy project where I’ll be there to help you along the way should you need it.  The Southern Diamonds Line has been a huge hit, and I am totally excited to bring you another project to add to it!

If you aren’t a member of the ELK Studio Crocheter’s FB group…whatcha waiting on?  We have all skill levels in there, so you can get your questions answered by a very supportive group of people!  We actually call ourselves the ELKies!

The poncho is made with the light and beautiful Cotton Fair Yarn by Premier!  I used this yarn in the original Southern Diamonds Shawl and after many tries with other yarns, I went back to what worked the best for me!  Plus, if you want to order the Cotton Fair yarn, use the code:  KL001 and get a 10% discount when you check out! While I did use a #2 weight yarn, I have worked it in a #4 worsted weight and it looked great too!  So….I think it will just be up to you what you decide.  I changed the pattern around a little to meet these accommodations and give everyone the ability to keep going or stop when they feel it’s the perfect size for them!  That’s one reason why I didn’t release the pattern at the end of last year.  I’ve made like 4 different versions to get it just right for you!
