It’s time for another ELK Studio’s Saturday Crochet Show! In this Saturday Crochet Show, you will pieces that are open and airy, making them lacy. Though this is not your traditional lace edging or lace work that you see in delicate and exquisite doilies or table settings. These are garments made to be worn with an intricate and fun stitch combination that make the piece lacy.

With its figure flattering styling, this lace top, by CrochetKim, incorporates an easy stitch pattern to make a garment you’ll be able to wear throughout the year simply by layering over different pieces.

The Lace Shawl, by Bobbi Hayward for Cascade Yarns, is lovely with its open stitches.

Fortune’s Shawlette, and your requests, are the inspiration for Fortune’s Wrap! While the Shawlette is small and dainty, looking lovely as a light summer layer on the shoulders or as a cozy cowl, Fortune’s Wrap is oversize, cozy, crazy versatile… with a little bit of bling! Pattern by Moogly.

Colorful drapey bamboo thread is the perfect choice for this soft comfortable topper that flatters with flair. Wear it in the summer over a tank or in cooler weather over a longer sleeve top. Pattern by Kimberly McAlindin for Red Heart.

Crocheted from tip up, this shawl will keep you cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Shown in Patons Grace. Pattern by Yarnspirations.

This fun lace poncho is designed using Unique Yarn by Lion Brand Yarns, in Cornucopia . Unique produces amazing color changes to add even more interest to this lacy pattern. The Unique Lace Poncho, by Cre8tion Crochet, is constructed with two identical patterns that are then seamed together. The poncho is finished with a simple sc edging.

This slouchy puff hat uses the puff stitch in a v-stitch style. It is open and airy making it perfect for summer evenings. The band will fit comfortably around your head but not too tight. It’s time to kick off Day 8 of the “Make it for Me” projects! You’ve survived the holidays and now It’s Time for You! For the entire month of January, I will bring you FREE patterns from amazing designers in the crochet industry. One of the great parts of “Make it for Me” is the designer will tell you exactly what that project means to him/her and why it is considered perfect for you too! Take a few minutes to check it out and decide if this crochet pattern is the one that you’ll dedicate to make for yourself. Who doesn’t love a beautiful cowl that only uses ONE skein of yarn! Dianne from Same DiNamics considered the cowl as the perfect “Make it for Me” project. She said, “This One Skein Wonder Neck Warmer is extremely soft and lightweight. These are two of the reasons why I chose this particular pattern as my Make it for Me project. In addition, the yarn used for this project, Red Heart Stellar, gives the finished project a sense of elegance, no matter the color you choose. The construction of the neck warmer is tubular in design yet wide enough so that I can comfortably fit it over my head. Once it’s on, it lays on my shoulders without me having to fuss with it; it just falls fashionably and in place. It is an incredibly warm piece yet light and airy enough where it’s not suffocating and causes overheating. I can definitely wear it as an accent piece for fashion, and as a functional piece to keep me warm on cold days.”

Also, I want to announce that I will be having a local “Make it for Me” Crochet Day hosted by Yarnhouse Studio! If you leave near or around Opelika, Alabama, I would love for you to join us on January 23, 2015! I’ll be there at 10 am! Is there an end time? Well I just don’t know yet….We may close the place down if we are having so much fun! If you are interested in coming, please let me know. I would love a “head count”. You can find the address and other information on the Yarnhouse Studio website! Click HERE to join the official invite! I would encourage all of you to form your own “Make it for Me” event at your local yarn store, coffee shop, etc. Let’s just take at least one day out of the month to celebrate US!

It always a pleasure to work with companies that are passionate for Crochet! When I asked them about promoting the event Laura said, “This sounds like a great idea.
