Are you keeping up with the Red Heart Joy Creators “Christmas in July” Blog Hop? Today is my turn to share an easy and fun pattern with you! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Red Heart will feature a free pattern from each their Joy Creators! For more details, you should head right over to their blog to see what’s been featured and look at the schedule for upcoming patterns….because you know there’s more!
Can you recognize my model? Yep, it’s Elena from Beatrice Ryan Designs! We are at the CGOA Conference in South Carolina and she graciously offered to model the new pattern release!
So let’s get started!
- Red Heart, Heart and Sole #1, 50 g/187 yards, Magenta, White, and Black. I used approximately 200 yards
- Hook – E/3.5mm
- Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends
beg – beginning
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
rem – remaining
sc – single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
YO – yarn over
Gauge: Not important with this design
- Ch 1 at beginning of pattern does not count as first st unless otherwise stated.
- Ch 3 at beginning of pattern counts as the first dc unless otherwise stated
- Work is not turned, the right side is always facing.
Although not denoted as X-Stitch in the pattern, you are performing the stitch on round 3 and 25.
X-Stitch – Skip one stitch, double crochet in the next st, double crochet in the skipped stitch by crossing the yarn in front of the stitch just made.

I hope you’ll enjoy this pattern and realize that you can use the same yarn but a different Red Heart Yarn will work perfect with this yarn too….For instance, I think the Red Heart Soft would be beautiful with this pattern. The length can be easily adjusted by changing the stitch counts which is multiples of 2!
